Worcester, Massachusetts [adapted from the website:] Built in 1857 by the Worcester County Mechanics Association, Mechanics Hall is the nation's finest pre-Civil War concert hall. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, it was completely restored in 1977. Known for its superb acoustics, the Hall boasts a celebrity list that includes Thoreau and Dickens, Caruso and Dvorak, Teddy Roosevelt and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Yo Yo Ma and Itzak Perlman, Mel Torme and Ella Fitzgerald. The nonprofit Worcester County Mechanics Association aims to preserve Mechanics Hall as a performance center and ensure that all in the community enjoy use of the building. Galas & BanquetsMechanics Hall hosts large and small private events, including weddings, proms, black-tie galas, business events, political fund raisers, benefit dinners and more. The staff provides award-winning service. Over 14,000 square feet of space in 5 rooms accomodate from 10 to 1,600 people. Menus to suit any budget can be designed with our recommended caterers; full beverage service and bar staff are available. Services include audio-visual capabilities and an assistive loop hearing system. Mechanics Hall is air-conditioned and fully accessible. WeddingsMechanics Hall accommodates anything from a simple ceremony to an elaborate reception with symphony orchestra for up to 450 guests. Our service includes a selection of private function rooms for the bridal party. We offer the largest dance floor in New England. Mechanics Hall offers 19th-century elegance, modern amenities and red-carpet treatment.
